Join us tomorrow, October 25th for a Sunday afternoon filled with songs from the Great American Songbook and beyond as Simona Daniele hosts our Sunday Session!
Join us this Sunday afternoon at Plowshares in West Harlem for our Sunday Session & Jam Session, featuring vocalist Simona Daniele, with Jihee Heo on piano, Alex Tremblay on bass, and John Iannuzzi on drums.
We’ll begin with a featured set from the quartet, followed by an open jam session welcoming musicians and vocalists to sit in. Come enjoy an afternoon of live jazz, musical conversation, and community in our intimate listening room.
Simona Daniele — Vocals (https://www.simonadaniele.com)
Born in Calabria and raised near Milan, Simona came to New York as a Fulbright Scholar. Her warm voice, expressive phrasing, and spirited s**t singing connect the Great American Songbook with Italian song and Brazilian rhythms. She performs regularly around New York, including at Dizzy’s Club, where she hosts a vocal jam session.
Jihee Heo — Piano (http://www.jiheeheomusic.com)
Originally from South Korea, Jihee is a New York pianist and composer whose performances have taken her to Smalls, Mezzrow, Birdland, and Dizzy’s Club. She has collaborated with artists including Vincent Herring, Joe Farnsworth, and Eric Alexander, bringing imagination and a deep connection to jazz tradition to her playing.
Alex Tremblay — Bass (https://www.alextremblaymusic.com)
A bassist, composer, and educator, Alex has been part of New York’s jazz community for more than a decade. With roots in jazz, blues, and R&B, he brings a warm sound and a responsive, supportive approach shaped by his studies with bassist Nat Reeves.
John Iannuzzi — Drums (https://johniannuzzi.wordpress.com/blog/)
A New School alumnus and protégé of Ralph Peterson, John has performed with Curtis Lundy, Craig Handy, Don Braden, and the Curtis Brothers. His rhythmic energy and musical sensitivity bring both drive and a thoughtful touch to the quartet.
