Yesterday Bob Moore of passed away at 94. He was a visionary entrepreneur who is responsible for getting more whole grains on our plates and his visage is ubiquitous on grocery store shelves. Years ago I met him at a food show and we chatted about gluten-free flours and ancient grains (we exclusively use Bob’s for our GF flour and organic farro as they are the best quality)
He was an early pioneer not only in healthy and sustainable food, but also in giving back. He made the decision to give his company to his employees despite getting offers from big corporations and now Bob’s Red Mill is 100% employee owned. He was a great man, and one of the warmest founders I’ve ever met and he will be missed, but I know he’ll continue to live on through his legacy and in the impact he made in so many lives.
