I have been searching for perfect words to express the melancholy and surrealism of having lost the man who chose to take on the role as father, when mine had passed. I will have to sit with it, let the feelings and emotions settle, grasp the enormity of it and perhaps the right words will come.

But for now . . .

It is no small feat - to be a hero in a life, a champion of a cause, a fan of a mere imperfect existence, to love unconditionally, openly, purely and expect nothing in return . . . that was my Tio Pellin (Pedro Colon Miranda), the man who taught me the true meaning of what love and being a real father is/should be.

So it is with such a heavy heart I announce that on the night of Wednesday, April 16, 2025 he left this physical earth and is now, as my friend Tony put it ‘Volanda en fuerza y libertad’, ‘Soaring with strength and freedom’ . . as he deserved, as he lived, as it should be!

I love you Tio/Papi - you are in my heart always, and I will live my life in celebration of yours and try my best to make you proud and carry on the legacy you have left!

If you are able to join, he will be viewed in the Island he loved so much Puerto Rico, this Easter Sunday between 2pm-8pm.
