It is with a heavy heart, and I must announce the passing of Linda Granat.
She was the wife of Frank Granat, the founding partner of Knickerbocker Bar & Grill. She had such a wonderful heart.
You can hear her laugh throughout the dining room. She lived life to the fullest and enjoyed her quiet time in Ojai.
She always had many friends that visiting and was an exceptional host.
She loved her champagne and martinis , and I was always amazed, and how well she was still able to converse after a full day of hitting it hard.
She went quietly with no pain and no illness.
I’m sure she is toasting the Knickerbocker with Frank.
Cheers to the both of you, I owe so much of all I have to both of you.
You both will be missed.🙏🏻🍸🍸

The Knick made NY Times Again!!
https://www.nytimes.com/2026/01/07/dining/restaurant-regulars.html?smid=url-share
On a recent evening at the Knickerbocker Bar & Grill on University Place in Manhattan, Gray Coleman, an entertainment lawyer, and his husband, Brian Theis, a cookbook author and television contributor, said the appeal of being a regular is the lack of ceremony.
“We’ve lived in Greenwich Village for almost 35 years. Usually when I walk in, I don’t have to say ‘Coleman, party.’ They know who it is,” Mr. Coleman, 67, said of the restaurant, which he and other house faithfuls fondly call “the Knick.”
Mr. Coleman isn’t looking for culinary fireworks. Consistency is the point. “I think there is a high level of predictability, and that’s key,” he said. “You’ve eaten almost everything on the menu, and there’s none of this ‘Am I going to make a wrong choice?’”
He added, “It’s like the grill room of your parents’ country club on a Sunday night. You’re going to eat well, but there’s going to be no revelation.”
From neighborhood diners, to Michelin-starred restaurants loyalty has its privileges.
