Suite 1508 at The Whitby Hotel presents a rather nice dilemma: where to look first. A mythical scene unfolds across the bespoke hand-embroidered headboard, while the Manhattan skyline stretches out beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows. Morning coffee may start inside, though the private terrace makes a convincing case for taking it outdoors.

Floor-to-ceiling bookshelves wrap around the room, joined by shadow boxes housing miniature scenes and curious keepsakes. There is a playful thread running through the Clementine Suite, quite literally. You’ll find hand selected Pierre Frey fabric climbing the headboard, dressing the windows, covering the armchairs and, rather fittingly, dressing the mannequin too.
Beyond the spacious interiors, the private terrace brings a change of scene in crisp blue and green stripes, with Midtown providing the backdrop. It is the sort of place that makes breakfast outside or evening cocktails feel almost necessary, with the streets of Manhattan unfolding below.

If you are taking public transportation, take the N, Q, or R subway lines to the 5th Avenue/59th Street station. Alternatively, take the F subway line to the 57th Street station. The hotel is located on 56th street, so it's just a short walk from either station.
If you are driving, take any major thoroughfare into Midtown Manhattan and park in one of the many parking garages in the area. Be prepared to pay a high price for parking as this is a busy area of New York City. Once parked, walk to 56th street and look for the hotel.
