Jaiya

Jaiya Jaiya was known as one of the most authentic Thai restaurants in New York since 1978. Its founders, Wanne and Pok, were among the first to introduce Thai cuisine to the Western world. The restaurant received numerous accolades from Michelin List, New York Times and various food publications for their delicious food and warm hospitality. The mission of "delicious food without compromise" made Jaiya one of the most famous Thai restaurants on the East Coast with two locations in New York City. However, it is with deep regret that we announce that Jaiya has been permanently closed.

NOTICE TO OUR JAIYA CUSTOMERS & FAMILY:

Dear loyal customers,
We regret to inform you that we will be permanently closing Jaiya at the end of this month. Since 1978, our mission has been to provide truly authentic Thai Cuisine to New Yorkers.

The economic recovery after the impact of the global pandemic has been challenging and we had to make the difficult decision to first close our Upper East Side Location and now our downtown Location.  Our customers have become our family, and we are truly appreciative of all your years of patronage at our restaurants .

We would like to invite you and your family to visit our Gramercy Park Location (396 3rd Ave, New York, NY 10016) one last time before we close. We look forward to hosting you and we wish you all the best for a happy and prosperous future.

Sincerely Yours,
The Pok Family

What people say

Thai restaurants are known for their unique blend of flavors, spices, and aromas that make them stand out from other cuisines. Jaiya, located on 2nd Avenue in New York, is one such restaurant that has been voted as the most authentic Thai restaurant since 1978.

The name Jaiya means "A Celebration of Victory," and it truly lives up to its name by offering a dining experience like no other. The founders, Wanne & Pok, opened their first restaurant in Queens and quickly gained popularity for their delicious food and warm hospitality. Their passion for food and culture has earned them recognition from the Michelin List, the New York Times, and many other food publications.

Jaiya's mission of "delicious food without compromise" is evident in every dish they serve. From classic Thai dishes like Pad Thai and Tom Yum Soup to lesser-known delicacies like Pla Rad Prik (crispy fish with chili sauce), every dish is prepared with fresh ingredients and authentic flavors.

What sets Jaiya apart from other Thai restaurants is its unique blend of traditional Thai cuisine with New York's edgy culinary landscape. The result is a menu that offers something for everyone - whether you're a fan of spicy curries or prefer milder dishes.

Overall, Jaiya is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to experience the best of Thai cuisine in New York City. With two locations in the city and a loyal following from all over the world, Jaiya truly embodies the meaning of victory in an ancient world of Thai cuisine like no other.
