Dúa da Pel began in 2014, founded by composer Sonia Megías and poet Eva Guillamón. Since then they have developed an extensive international career, performing in venues such as The Juilliard School of Music in New York, the British Museum in London, the Culture Square Theater in Shanghai.
Sonia and Eva see Dúa da Pel as a bridge where music and words take the audience through the birth of rhythm, to the birth of the world. Their songs connect with a common essence above languages or eras through precise words and musical intelligence. They remind us about what we thought we didn’t know.
We are beyond lucky to have them performing at ETG!! Forget what you think of as a singer-songwriter experience. You are in for a genuinely different musical experience. Do join us.

This Sunday we will be open from 12-3, hosting the annual Black History Month book drive with the Staten Island Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Come by with new or gently used children books, or buy some to donate when you arrive! This month we are selling Valentines gift bags, with assorted chocolate, tea, and stationary! We don’t have flowers but we do have lots of live plants. The Christmas cactus is blooming a bit late this year and would make the perfect gift for a plant parent!

Happy Black History Month! Make sure to take some time this month and remember how P.O.C. have built the world we know today. Mourn those lost to the violence of history, and celebrate their strengths and victories. This year it is more important than ever that we do not repeat the mistakes of the past. With the turmoil in our current political climate we must find community, love, and common ground. Stay safe, protect each other, and educate yourself.
