Koneko is now closed to the public, but the above cats still do not have placements finalized! We are making plans to move all remaining cats out of the space at the end of this week. You can still come in for meet and greets as an approved adopter, at no cost. Reach out to either rescue to apply & learn more.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out and supported us as we navigate this transition. We’re very fortunate that many of our remaining cats are getting a fair amount of interest, and the rescues are hard at work trying to respond to as many inquiries as they can! 🫶

We’ve had many people ask- what will happen to our remaining cats when our doors close to the public?
Here’s a breakdown of our plan:
🖤 Tomorrow is our last day of official operations. After that, our doors will be closed to the public. However…
🖤We still have access to the space for a few more weeks, and so any remaining cats will stay here and continue to be cared for by our team while we pack up & continue to look for placement.
🖤If you’d like to schedule a meet and greet during this time, please reach out to the rescue group that the cat you’re interested in belongs to- we’ve put together a quick guide here for easy access! The rescues are in communication with each other, so if you’re looking at cats from both groups, just let them know when you contact them.
🖤Please feel free to DM us about any questions you have about our cats or about the adoption/foster process- we will still be monitoring this account and are always happy to help :)

Today was my last shift at Koneko 🖤
I’ve been a cattery guide and Koneko’s Social Media Manager for 4.5 years. This job has brought me so many wonderful things. I adopted my baby Cowboy cat the first year I was here. I met my roommate, best friend, & one of my bridesmaids here, many more wonderful friends, and some of the kindest and most generous coworkers and people I’ve ever known. I got to meet and spend time with my favorite artist of all time (Mitski!!!! a dream come true)! I started a full time career in social media, with the encouragement and support of creative freedom from Koneko’s management. I planned events and helped design specialty drinks. I was able to access medical and adoption resources for street cats in need, that somehow just kept finding me, like they knew I could and would help them. I got to say that my job was petting cats and making silly memes (even though it was so much more). I gained access to an amazing community of cat people and got to spend so much time with so many wonderful cats.
I met hundreds of cats at Koneko, and I remember every single one. If you adopted from Koneko in the past 4.5 years, I promise I remember your kitty, and I loved them so much. I gave them kisses on their heads and would sing to them during dinner time. I gave every cat nicknames and drew each one a little portrait and loved learning about all their different personalities. Every single cat that has come through Koneko is so special to me. I love these cats with all my heart. I will miss them so much. It’s tough to say goodbye when one or two go home, especially when they’re long stays, but losing all of them at once is extra hard🖤
Over the next few days, we’ll make a couple more posts as we wrap up operations and do some last-minute adoption pushes, but it felt important for me to say goodbye to this huge chapter of my life in some official way, and to say goodbye to you. Thank you to everyone who has adopted, visited, laughed at our content, donated, and supported our mission. This was truly a special place and I’m so grateful to have been part of it.

Gypsum and Giuseppe are the sweetest, silliest, most gentle little kitties. They’re so perfect, we don’t understand why they haven’t had any interest!

We still have spaces for meet and greets on Monday 7/27, and Wednesday 7/29!
We have about one week until we close, and 15 cats that still need homes or foster placements.
We’ve had some cats go home and to fosters over the past few weeks (woohoo!!), but many of our kittens and long stay cats are still available!
During meet and greets, each approved adopter will be able to spend a (free) private half hour in the cattery, where they can mingle with our adoptable cats, chat with rescue and Koneko staff, and make a plan for drop-off.
You can inquire with either group about a specific cat, or submit a general application if you aren’t sure who you’re interested in yet and would like to spend some time with the cats first- we’ll help you find your perfect match!

Gremlin is our final intake at Koneko, and she is so special 💛 we are so honored to have been able to host so many wonderful cats over the past decade, and so thankful that Gremlin got the chance find a temporary home with us off the streets.
Grem is about 5 years old, but she is teeny tiny! She is as small as our 6 month old kittens- but her tiny body packs a big personality!
Gremlin is a friendly, silly, chill gal. She is always excited to see her people in the morning and will greet you with her silly creaky meow as she rubs against your legs. Her meow is HILARIOUS! and we can’t believe how itty bitty she is!!!

We are hosting dedicated meet and greet days for approved adopters for our remaining cats! 🫶
On Monday 7/27, and Wednesday 7/29, we will be hosting “meet and greet days” so that serious, pre-approved adopters can get the chance to meet our cats before we close.
Each approved adopter will be able to spend a (free) private half hour in the cattery, where they can mingle with our adoptable cats, chat with rescue and Koneko staff, and make a plan for drop-off.

Meet Mavis!
Mavis is a 7 month old chatty guy who is soooo cuddly!! He absolutely adores being pet and loves nuzzling into your arms. He is sooo small and soft. He likes to talk, and has a lot to say! He is one of our final intakes at Koneko and was a little bit nervous at first, but as soon as he realized that everyone is here to pet him and be nice to him, he was overjoyed and started making biscuits right away!

Darling Dallas is looking for her foster or forever home! 🤠🌵🏜️ Can you believe she hasn’t had much interest? neither can we :(
Dallas is a petite tortico princess with a tiny heart of gold. Tortitude? She’s never heard of it! Dallas is sweet and chill and loves to be pet. She is a very social girl and will need a cat buddy in her forever home. She wants someone to play tag with!
Dallas was our final Cat of the month at Koneko. We let her have the title for 2 months because she is just that special (and because our Dallas themed drink of the month was so popular)!
