Born and raised in Jackson Heights; we were influenced by the culture and diversity around us. We are two sisters (Tharinya and Sawanya) from the previous Arunee Thai owners. Thirty years ago, our parents migrated from Thailand and created a successful restaurant where people from the community were able to connect. It is now our time to create a new legacy for the community and ourselves.

Baht is a modern, New-Thai restaurant. The diversity within our family lines intertwines with our version of what The World’s Borough is, Queens. We started as servers at Arunee Thai from the locations off of Roosevelt Avenue and 37th Avenue, which is now known as Baht restaurant.

Working alongside our parents in the restaurant for the last 20 years and learning the ins and outs— Sawanya, found her passion in cooking. She collaborated on a New-Thai menu with her parents. She curated the menu influenced by all things she grew up on. The epitome of Arunee Thai still exists but with a twist of “New-Thai” cuisine.

We at Baht have been working hard to create an experience for you all. We wish to share the connection and time spent on building something we whole heartedly believe in. As we continue to build our brand, we hope to gain your support and look forward to serving the community the only way we know how to.

Meet one of our favorite dish “Khao Pad Poo” or crab fried rice paired with our Thai Chimichurri - made with love by Sawanya.

She created this chimichurri for a subtle yet flavorful taste to the pallet. Influenced by the various culture in Queens - the classic chimichurri sauce made with fresh herbs, vinegar, oil, and garlic but instead using red jalapeños we use red Thai Birds Eye chilies, and incorporating Thai flavors.

Often times this condiment is overlooked by many, but our Thai Chimichurri is a key ingredient and hits the spot every single time!

Our version of a curry puff, not your traditional pastry puff, but here at Baht - we’re all about bridging the gap between different cultures.
