Happy International Women’s Day! All month long we’ll be highlighting the women behind some of your favorite Bronx Little Italy businesses.
If you’ve dined at Emilia's Restaurant over the past 25 years, you’ve likely seen Joanne proudly interacting with guests and staff. When her father first bought the restaurant she started out by helping with billing and overseeing the menu. As time went on she took on more responsibility, and as the owner that responsibility continues to grow.
She loves taste testing new dishes and ensuring all customers are treated like family. One of her proudest accomplishments is the beautiful transformation of the restaurant’s outdoor patio.
Her advice for her daughters and other women entering the workforce is to make sure you enjoy what you do. It’s not hard to go to work when you love what you do. 💜
