Today marks Nowruz, the Persian New Year.
Nowruz—meaning “new day” in Persian—marks the arrival of spring and represents renewal and hope for a better future.
This year, we honor Nowruz as an act of resilience. For thousands of years—through invasions, hardship, and moments of darkness—our people have carried this tradition forward. Keeping Nowruz alive is not simply a celebration, but a responsibility to those who came before us and to the generations who will follow.
On this Nowruz, we hold in our hearts those we have lost, those suffering, and all who continue to endure—praying for peace, healing, and protection for the people and land of Iran.

Happy New Year! From Chef Nasim being named a finalist for Best Chef: New York by the James Beard Foundation, to backgammon nights and music-filled evenings at Sofreh Cafe, participating in the New York Proud campaign celebrating immigrants across the city, and our Winter Solstice Yalda Dinner at Platform by JBF — 2025 was a year to remember, made meaningful by the community that fills this space.
Thank you to everyone who broke bread with us and made Sofreh & Sofreh Cafe a place to connect. Onward to more memories and more reasons to come together in 2026 🤍
