To our family, friends, and guests,
As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. This decision was made with an extremely heavy heart but the time has come to close our doors and say goodbye to New York. This coming week will be the final one for Ipanema.
Being a part of the Portuguese/Brazilian community in Manhattan for the last 44 years has brought us unending pride and joy. Through our food and hospitality we have built relationships that will stay with our family forever. Our last day of service will be Saturday, April 22nd and we would love to see you all throughout the week to share the memories and stories that we have created.
Amizades é tudo.
Obrigado,
A família Pedro

What people say
Brazilian restaurants are known for their warm and welcoming atmosphere, delicious food, and exceptional hospitality. Ipanema Restaurant on West 36th Street in New York City is no exception. This authentic Brazilian restaurant and bar has been a favorite among locals since 1979.
One of the things that sets Ipanema apart is its family-like atmosphere. From the moment you step inside, you'll feel like you're dining with loved ones. The staff is friendly and attentive, making sure that your dining experience is nothing short of exceptional.
When it comes to the food, Ipanema does not disappoint. Their seafood ceviche is a must-try dish. Made with a fresh catch of the day, caja manga leche de tigre, and purple sweet potatoes, this dish is bursting with flavor and will leave you wanting more.
And if you have a sweet tooth, be sure to save room for dessert! The Cumaru on the menu is a fan favorite. Made with Cumaru (tonka bean) cream, caramelized bananas, and bourbon sauce, this dessert will end your meal on a high note.
It's unfortunate to hear that Ipanema Restaurant will be closing its doors after 44 years of serving the Portuguese/Brazilian community in Manhattan. However, we can cherish the memories and stories created at this beloved establishment. If you have the chance to visit before their final day of service on April 22nd, be sure to stop by and experience all that makes Ipanema Restaurant so special.
