Join us this friday as we bid farewell to our dear as she prepares to head back down to the Big Easy in just a few weeks. Amanda’s got a whole farewell tour planned, and we’re blessed to host her for a deluxe version of the Cafe that she helped us bring to life.
Expect usual AM service from 8-11, then we’ll do a full lunch service; the bar will be open; and there will be pastry and lunch specials from Amanda and some drink specials from to help liven things up. This affair will be reservation-free (walk-ins only), so come and hang out at your leisure as we celebrate Amanda.
We’re so sad to see Amanda go, but happy that she has entrusted us to continue making some of her recipes for the cafe and for the folks over - we’ll share more on what’s in store for us here at the Good Morning Cafe soon, but for now, we just want to collectively say - nay, scream at the top of our lungs: WE LOVE YOU AMANDA, THANK YOU, WE’RE SO STOKED FOR YOU, AND WE’LL SEE YA REAL SOON.

Seafood restaurants are celebrated for their ability to deliver fresh, flavorful dishes that transport diners to coastal locales with every bite. They often highlight the natural tastes of the ocean, offering a variety of preparations that cater to both traditional and adventurous palates. At Strange Delight on Lafayette Avenue in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, this ethos is taken to new heights with a contemporary twist on classic seafood offerings.
Strange Delight showcases an innovative approach that keeps patrons coming back for more. The restaurant's recent creations include a cemita-inspired swordfish milanesa loaf, expertly crafted with chipotle, papalo, and quesillo nestled between two slices of soft milk bread. This dish not only highlights the delicate flavors of the swordfish but also introduces exciting textures and spices that elevate the dining experience.
Additionally, the introduction of Hawa’s patty melt loaf—a unique blend featuring South Africa’s beloved chakalaka relish—demonstrates Strange Delight's commitment to creativity and flavor exploration. This dish combines a juicy beef patty with spicy vegetable relish and melted cheese, all encased in toasted Japanese milk bread. It’s a delightful fusion that reflects the restaurant's adventurous spirit while still honoring its seafood roots.
With each visit, guests can expect not just delicious food but also an inviting atmosphere where culinary innovation thrives. Reservations are available for those looking to indulge in these exceptional offerings, while walk-ins are always welcome for spontaneous seafood cravings.
