Somm’s Notes: Episode Two
This week, Beverage Director Francisco Garcia turns his attention to a 2021 Fonterutoli Chianti — structured, bright, and endlessly food-friendly. Its bright acidity and fine tannins make it a natural match across the menu, from our roasted chicken to the rigatoni pomodoro to the filet mignon.
Tomorrow is National Chianti Day, and we can think of no better way to celebrate than a glass overlooking Columbus Circle.

Introducing Somm’s Notes- an ongoing series where our beverage director, Francisco Garcia, invites you deeper into the glass.
For our inaugural edition, in celebration of National Pinot Noir Day, Francisco explores two expressions of the varietal: our by-the-glass Domaine Faiveley, a study in Burgundian restraint, and Orin Swift’s Slander, a California interpretation offered by the bottle among more than 30 selections on our list.
Two regions. Two philosophies. One grape.
Follow along as Somm’s Notes continues to uncover the stories behind what’s poured at Robert’s.
