The Owl's Head

The Owl's Head The Owl's Head was a wine and beer bar located at 74th Street serving an impressive selection of global wines and craft beers. The carefully curated libations were paired with savory and sweet artisanal bites that the menu constantly evolved. The ambiance at The Owl's Head was rustic, with rough hewn bar tops made from single maple trees complementing the restored tin ceilings and brick walls from the original 1904 building design. It was an intimate setting where patrons could enjoy drinks, food, and conversations without pretension or pomp. Unfortunately, this establishment has been permanently closed.

Check out our recommendations in Food & Wine!

While a lot of imported wines cost an arm and a leg—and are usually worth every penny—you don’t have to spend big to explore some of the great, under-appreciated wines of Europe, South America, Australia, New Zealand, and other far-flung places.

It is with great sadness that we are announcing that we will be closing The Owl's Head by the end of AUGUST. The effects of COVID-19 made it impossible for us to continue as a wine bar and, after further review, a wine shop would just not be feasible as it would require a much greater investment and risk to obtain the tools that we would need to survive. We still have wine, beer and snacks so you can stock up before we close!

We greatly appreciate all the support that you have provided The Owl's Head family for the past 8+ years. It was great to share not only a glass of wine but celebrate art, poetry, literature, cinema and music together. Cheers!

This one is indeed da bomb! Bombino Bianco "Calcarius" from Valentina Passalacqua.
Let's start with the fact it's a LITER bottle and that it's the weekend so you know you deserve a little extra vino... The juice? Made from a local Pugliese grape called bombino bianco. The wine is unfined and unfiltered with a small amount of sulfur added at bottling. White flowers, lemony, saline, and super fresh.

July 4th weekend calls for beer and ya'll gonna want this one - "Monkey Chased the Weasel" from Carton Brewing. This Berliner Weisse is made with mulberries from a tree in
the brewery's backyard. This one's meant for quaffing when there is no reason to avoid direct sunlight on balmy summer day.
Don't forget to stock up for the weekend!
