Dear friends of Madame Vo, ⁣

Like all of you, we have watched our country torn apart by pain and anger over the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and many others. As refugees who came to America for freedom, we cannot be silent when black people still face oppression and racism every day. To the NYC family: please stay safe and spread love. And to our black friends, supporters, and guests: we hear you and we stand with you. Black lives matter. ⁣

We're extremely moved by the outpouring of donations and support for medical professionals from everyone. We will continue to keep donations open through Venmo -Vo-19. With every $10 we're able to personally cook a meal for first responders and frontline workers at hospitals. Thank you once again everyone for your care, support and generosity. Please stay safe and stay home and keep yourselves healthy.

Our chef/owner Jimmy Ly joined on his Hidden Narratives podcast earlier this week to talk about why he's kept open during COVID-19 and the reality of the situation in New York and around the world for the restaurant industry. It's a heartfelt talk worth listening to in its entirety on Spotify.

Thank you to all who chipped in and made our meal delivery at Mount Sinai today possible! We’ve been overwhelmed by all your generosity — we are now able to donate over 350 meals divided amongst three hospitals, including those in the hardest-hit areas beyond Manhattan. It means so much for us to be able to do something small to support the medical professionals and heroes on the frontlines of keeping our city safe.

While we dearly miss our valued patrons during this difficult period of social distancing, it's still possible to enjoy a little bit of Madame Vo in your own homes.

We're talking about making pho. In our bio above, you can find a link to Chef Jimmy making his pho recipe at the studio a while back.

Pho is a comfort food and in these tough times we could all use a little bit of that. So we want you to show us your version of pho through the hashtag and share a comforting meal as a community.

To the Madame Vo family: As you may know, NYC has ordered the temporary closure of all restaurants, bars, and nightclubs in order to limit the spread of COVID-19. In compliance with this safety measure, we are closing both Madame Vo and Madame Vo BBQ until further notice. Madame Vo will remain open for takeout as well as delivery on with all of your Vietnamese favorites. We look forward to continuing to serve you now and in the future. Family-owned businesses like ours rely on our local community, and so we thank all of you for your ongoing support. Please stay safe, and stay home!
