HAPPY JUNETEENTH!
Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on June 19, 1865 slaves were finally declared free 2.5 years after Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1862.ย The declaration by General Grainger to bring the Emancipation Proclamation into effect in Texas is celebrated as the end of slavery as it finally brought the practice to an end in the last state still holding slaves.
The Bronx Beer Hall is open today from 12PM to 2AM.
