In Loving Memory of Nicholas Gomez 🕊️
It is with deep sadness that the Mateus Restaurant family extends our heartfelt condolences to the Gomez family on the passing of Nicholas Gomez. ERA Top Service Realty, Inc. Melissa Gomez | NYC & Long Island Real Estate Jason Gomez Terry Gomez
Nicholas was so much more than an excellent and loyal customer. He was a longtime family friend and a familiar face who became part of the Mateus story. Our friendship goes back many years, to when Nicholas and his family were building their roots and real estate business right here in Queens Village, alongside us and so many other neighborhood families.
Over the years, we had the privilege of watching his success, but what we will remember most is the man behind it, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, a hardworking businessman, and a genuinely kind and caring person.
Nicholas always carried himself with warmth, respect, and friendship. We are grateful for the many years, conversations, celebrations, meals, and memories shared together.
Our hearts are with his family and all those who loved him during this incredibly difficult time. May they find comfort in knowing how many lives Nicholas touched and how fondly he will be remembered.
Rest in eternal peace, Nicholas.
Your friendship and memory will always hold a special place in our hearts and in the Chaves family. 🤍🕊️
With our deepest sympathy,
The Chaves Family
Forever remembered. Forever missed. Forever in our hearts.

What people say
Portuguese restaurants are known for their delicious seafood dishes and authentic recipes. If you're looking for a little taste of Portugal in Queens, New York, look no further than Mateus' Restaurant & Bar on Jamaica Avenue.
One of the standout dishes at Mateus' is their signature seafood paelha, which customers rave about. But don't worry if seafood isn't your thing - they also offer broiled steaks and chops, rice and beans, vegetarian entrees, soups, salads and homemade desserts. And if you're in the mood for a drink, their specialty cocktails and select wines won't disappoint.
But it's not just the food that makes Mateus' a great spot to dine. The cheerfully decorated dining room creates a welcoming atmosphere for a relaxing sit-down meal. And if you're planning a party or special occasion, their private party room can accommodate up to 80 guests.
Mateus' is open seven days a week and specializes in both Portuguese and Spanish cuisines as well as American favorites. They even offer off-premises catering so you can enjoy their delicious food anywhere. So next time you're craving some authentic Portuguese cuisine or just want to try something new, head over to Mateus' Restaurant & Bar on Jamaica Avenue in Queens Village.
