As we look to our last day on August 9, we look back and reflect on R&D Foods through the years. First up, The Early Years.

In May 2014 we opened R&D Foods. After 11 years of serving you on the most charming avenue in Brooklyn, we will make our last sandwich in a few short weeks. We are grieving this loss, for ourselves and for you, but we remain resolute in our decision. The high and lows we have shared in these years are defined by our loyal regulars, neighborhood characters, and the dedicated staff members that have joined us to lift the gates each morning and lock the door each night. Regulars and staffers alike have become friends, trusted allies and confidants as we’ve navigated the world of entrepreneurship together in this beautiful and demanding city. Without these ties that bound us to this place, 11 years would never have been possible, and we have you to thank.

Rest assured our beloved space at 602 Vanderbilt will not lie empty, our neighbors at will re-open their daytime, Jew-ish deli & appetizing shop, , here in the fall. We are relieved that their sandwiches, babka, and bagels(!) will be a part of your new day-to-day routine. Watch this space for more updates on the handoff!

So come through for a KSS and the season’s last BLT – it’s the sandwich of summer after all. Doing this with you all these years was the opportunity of a lifetime, and we have you to thank for allowing us to live out our dreams. Our last day is Saturday, August 9.
