Yaniv Taubenhouse – Piano
Jerad Lippi – Drums
Jakob Dreyer – Bass

Join us this Sunday at 2 PM as we welcome pianist Yaniv Taubenhouse to the Plowshares stage for the very first time.

Yaniv holds a special place in the story of Plowshares Sunday Session. He was the donor of our beloved 100-year-old Kurtzmann baby grand piano, the instrument that helped shape this series from the very beginning. This Sunday, he’ll be reunited with it for a performance that promises to be both meaningful and memorable.

Born in Israel, Yaniv began studying piano at age six and went on to graduate from the Thelma-Yellin High School of the Arts in Tel Aviv. His musical path has included studies with distinguished teachers in Israel, the U.S., and Europe, along with masterclasses with acclaimed pianists including Brad Mehldau, Richard Goode, Robert McDonald, and Sonia Rubinsky.

Over the years, he has shared the stage with artists such as George Coleman, Peter Bernstein, Ari Hoenig, Anat Cohen, Will Vinson, and many others.

He has performed with a wide range of notable artists including Steve Wilson, Rich Perry, Anna Webber, Glenn Zaleski, Ron Blake, and many more, and has appeared on over 30 albums as a sideman.

Will Lyle Guitar
John Webber Bass
Rodney Green Drums

This Sunday we welcome back Will Lyle, one of our Sunday Session founders, back to the Plowshares stage! Will will be sticking with guitar again this week accompanied by veteran Bassist John Webber and drummer Rodney Green.

John Webber continues the tradition of strong bass players, hailing from the Midwest with his strong but relaxed and melodic style. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, John grew up in the Chicago suburb of Wheaton, Illinois, where he took up electric bass at age 10; by 15, he was playing contra bass. During his time in Chicago, he steadily built a reputation as one of the strongest young bass players on the scene and worked paid gigs as early as high school with musicians like Jodie Christian and Von Freeman.

During his college years, he worked with big names like Tommy Flanagan, Eddie Harris, James Moody and Ira Sullivan. In 1987, John moved to New York where he began working regularly with Bill Hardman and Junior Cook. Since then, he has maintained long-running collaborations with George Coleman, Jimmy Cobb, and saxophonists Johnny Griffin and Eric Alexander; he has also appeared alongside Etta Jones, Horace Silver, Ryan Kisor, Lou Donaldson, Milt Jackson, Benny Greene, Barry Harris and Brad Mehldau. He continues to tour internationally and play around New York City today.

Born on March 17, 1979 in Camden, NJ, Rodney Green is a "natural drummer”. His father being a minister and an organist, he learned to play drums at the church, where he spent most of his time during his childhood. As a self-taught drummer, he forged his own style far from music schools and university programs, listening to records and then completing his training at 15 on stage with some of the best musicians of Philadelphia. Shortly after that, Bobby Watson hired him for a tour in Italy. At 17, while he was still in high school, Rodney Green had regularly gigs in New York and abroad. After his graduation, he moved to New York and soon played and recorded with Greg Osby, Christian McBride, Eric Reed, Joe Henderson, Benny Green, Tom Harrell and Mulgrew Miller. At 19, on Ben Wolfe’s recommendation, the drummer joined Diana Krall’s band and stayed for two years. Today, with nearly 30-years’ experience and a lot of records as a sideman, Rodney Green has played with some of the most important jazz musicians: Charlie Haden, Terell Stafford, Wycliffe Gordon, Betty Carter, Abbey Lincoln, Dianne Reeves, Wynton Marsalis and the list goes on.

Please join us at 2 PM tomorrow. After an opening set, we’ll open things up for a jam session. All experienced jazz musicians are welcome to sit in— As always, come for the music, stay for the community. 🎶✨
