We are honored by the visit of Mingma David Sherpa la at Himalayan Yak, the first Nepali to summit all 14 eight-thousanders and a participant in the landmark winter ascent of K2. His humility and quiet dignity left a lasting impression on us all.

What people say
Himalayan Yak Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking for an authentic Himalayan dining experience in New York. As the first Nepali restaurant in the city, they have been serving up delicious Tibetan, Nepali, Bhutanese, and Indian foods for years. Their diverse menu offers something for everyone, from traditional dishes like Daal Bhat Tarkari to more adventurous options like Gyuma - their homemade Tibetan-style sausage filled with beef blood.
The cozy ambiance of the restaurant makes it a hidden gem in the Jackson Heights area. Whether you're stopping by during the week for their incredible lunch specials or exploring their weekend buffet, you can be sure that you'll experience delicious traditional meals as diverse as the nations that span the Himalayas.
One of the highlights of visiting Himalayan Yak Restaurant is their live music performances on weekend evenings. Enjoy classical and modern music from Nepal, Tibet, and India while sipping on a drink from their full bar.
It's no wonder that Himalayan Yak Restaurant has been named "Best Tibetan Restaurant" by the Village Voice. After just one visit, you'll understand why this restaurant is so highly regarded. And if you're in the neighborhood but looking to have a quiet night at home, take advantage of their free delivery service!
