This incredible pork shank, enveloped in banana leaf and infused with a tangy achiote and citrus sauce, is served alongside hearty pinto beans and handmade corn tortillas. It’s a plate full of flavor and texture! 🍽️😊
This dish has roots as old as the Mayan empire, “pibil” refers to the underground oven called a “pib” used to cook the meats (originally wild boar or pheasant). Pork eventually became the main meat used in this recipe, and El Chamorro Pibil remains alive in Mexican cuisine 🇲🇽

To get to the Mexican restaurant located on Hope Street in New York, you may take public transport by taking any train that stops at the Hoyt-Schermerhorn Station. Walk southeast towards Atlantic Avenue then turn right onto Bond Street. Afterward, make a left turn onto Pacific Street then continue walking until you reach your destination.
