BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Veteran rapper Cassidy says lyricism is making a comeback and believes hip-hop is finally returning to its roots after years of what he described as a decline in the culture.

Speaking during an appearance at Starr Bar in Brooklyn, Cassidy shared his excitement about seeing a renewed appreciation for artists who prioritize bars and lyrical ability.

“Bars is back. I’m excited. Culture feeling different,” Cassidy said.

He continued by reflecting on what he believes the genre has gone through over the past decade.

“A lot of bull st for over a decade. But now it’s getting back to normal. I’m excited. You know I’m cut from that cloth. I’m the originator. N****s talking that st, spitting bars and all that st. I’m super happy that it’s back in position.”**

Cassidy has long been recognized as one of hip-hop’s premier battle rappers and lyricists, building his reputation through freestyle battles, mixtapes, and hit records.

His comments come as conversations around lyricism, battle rap, and traditional emceeing continue to gain momentum across the hip-hop community.

To get to the cocktail bar and restaurant located on Starr Street, you can take the L subway line to Jefferson Street station. From there, it's a short walk to the location. Alternatively, you can take the B57 or B60 bus lines which stop near Starr Street.

For drivers, take exit 33 from I-278 W/Brooklyn Queens Expressway and continue onto Meeker Ave. Turn right onto Morgan Ave then left onto Starr St. Parking options are limited, but there is street parking available in the surrounding area. Please be mindful of any parking regulations and restrictions.
