We’ve learned so much about the rich history of Little Neck and our bakery building, and it’s incredible to feel like we’re part of that story. What stands here today as our bakery has lived many lives once a two floor hotel, la diner, then a deli, and now a place where we continue to serve the community in our own way. We also discovered the story behind the soldier honored on the plaque outside our building, a meaningful piece of local history we’re proud to share.
A heartfelt thank you to Lisa Mueller Gannon and her husband, who researched everything for us through the Little Neck Douglaston Historical Society.
Included here are photos showing what the Little Neck Railroad Station once looked like; our building is on the right of the track in photo.
The south side of the tracks further east where a former delivery post (the “UPS” of its time) once stood.
You’ll also see the small booth on the left where a worker manually cranked the gates, and the waiting area that served passengers of the past.
Amazing to be part of history!

Ube has been cultivated for centuries in the Philippines and other parts of Southeast Asia. It likely originated in Southeast Asia and became a staple crop due to its adaptability to tropical climates and nutrient-rich tubers. It is a staple crop traditionally grown by indigenous Filipino such as the Aeta tribe.
Traditionally, it was used in local dishes and desserts long before the introduction of modern baking, often boiled, mashed, or made into a sweet jam called ube halaya. Over time, ube became an iconic ingredient in Filipino cuisine, celebrated for its vibrant color and naturally sweet, nutty flavor, and it has now gained international popularity in pastries, ice cream, and drinks.

What people say
Fern & Aurora is a dessert shop and restaurant located on Little Neck Parkway that specializes in handcrafted small batch desserts. Their Leche Flan Bon bon is a must-try, as it has received rave reviews on social media. The shop also supports artists and craftsmanship, as evidenced by their beautiful stained glass sign from Ukraine. Their Easter egg collection, including the Heirloom Easter egger (Ube & coconut crème) and Celadon quail eggs (Yuzo caramel), is a limited edition treat that is available for pre-order. Additionally, their Spring/Easter box features a surprise flavor with hints of cute little chicks. Fern & Aurora's macarons are also worth mentioning, as they make for an excellent cake topping. With their unique flavors and attention to detail, Fern & Aurora is definitely worth checking out for anyone with a sweet tooth.
