The Knicks have been part of New York’s story since 1946, when the franchise was founded as one of the original teams in the Basketball Association of America — a league that would eventually become the NBA. From the beginning, they were a New York team in every sense: big city pressure, big city expectations, and a fanbase that never really learned how to be calm about it. That energy has always had a way of spilling into the rest of the city. When the Knicks are winning, New York feels it. When they’re not, New York feels that too. Either way, people talk to each other more, opinions get louder, and every bar becomes part sports desk, part therapy session—we are here for it.
Go Knicks! 🏀🦈

Last week’s anniversary party left us feeling very full-hearted. Thank you to everyone who came by to celebrate, raise a glass, share a story, and pack this little corner with so much love and good energy. Seeing so many familiar faces — old friends, newer regulars, neighborhood characters, and people who have made this place part of their routine over the years — was incredibly special to us.
While we were celebrating 29 years of our iteration of The Spring Lounge, this bar and this corner have a history that stretches back well over 100 years. We’re just one chapter in a much longer story, but we’re proud to have occupied this space for as long as we have and grateful to everyone who has helped keep it alive.
We’ll be sharing more photos and memories from the day throughout the week. Until then, thank you again to everyone who makes this place what it is. You’re the reason the lights stay on and the doors keep opening 🦈

We’ve made it another year!
Join us Wednesday, May 13th as we celebrate 29 years of Spring Lounge. We’ll get things going at noon and keep it rolling into the night. Pizza all day from our friends at Nolita Pizza, giveaways, and we’ll be hanging with our friends from Lagunitas Brewing Company, pouring Pilsner and Hop Stoopid.
Come by, have a drink, and help us raise a glass to nearly three decades of this place. 🦈🍻

Glad we’ve got this spiced ale from on draught — doing its part on a day like this 🍻🦈

Came across these gems recently and had to share.
Back when this place was finding its footing — early days of Spring Lounge in the ’90s. A little wild, a little rowdy, and not always easy. Old regulars adjusting, new faces coming in, and plenty of strong opinions about how things should be done. Tabs got tightened up, rules got enforced, and not everyone loved it.
Different neighborhood, too. This side of Broadway wasn’t exactly where people were rushing to be — rough around the edges, unpredictable, and very much its own thing.
Hard to imagine now, but this is part of what built the place into what it is today.

Chappy — a little piece of the bar’s early history.
In the early ’40s, this space transitioned from the Puerto Rico Coffee Company into a bar and was known as Chappy’s.
