What people say
Southern American restaurants are known for their delicious and comforting cuisine that is deeply rooted in tradition. Popina, located on Columbia Street in New York, is a perfect example of a restaurant that combines the best of Southern American and Italian cuisine. With a casual and cozy atmosphere, Popina offers an extensive wine list that perfectly complements their dishes.
One of the standout dishes at Popina is their ricotta and herb pansotti served with pecans and garlic scapes. This dish perfectly showcases the best pecans from the region and is only available for a limited time. Additionally, Popina hosts Chef Soirées during the summer months where guests can enjoy food by friends, drinks, and live music in their backyard.
Popina's menu also features unique dishes such as swordfish with cucumber, buttermilk, and peanut dukkah. Their main backyard area is perfect for enjoying snacks, wine/cocktails, and pasta under the sun or stars. And if you're looking for a great weekend plan in Brooklyn, Popina should definitely be on your list - fuel up at another local favorite for lunch before visiting the waterfront for stunning views and winding down with a glass of wine and bowl of pasta at Popina.
Overall, Popina offers a delightful dining experience that combines Southern American comfort food with Italian flavors in a welcoming environment.
