Today, 11 years ago, BK joined me at the studios for my first launch.
She was 8 weeks old, and i had severe post partum despression.
I look back at this picture with tremendous pride and tremendous sadness.
I'd worked hard to get my brand on QVC.
But I wish Id had time to just stay home, heal, bond with my baby and take a break before going back to work. It just wasnt a choice I even considered back then.
I didnt even realize I had post partum depression. It took me almost a full year to get my mind right and get back to normal (whatever normal means...).
And I'm ok, and so is she. Now its just a chapter in our story.
And what a book it's going to make. 🥂

Although I've been in New York over 30 years, I am, and always will be, a Midwestern girl at heart.
What an honor to be recognized by the Champaign-Urbana Schools Foundation as a 'Distinguished Alumni' and I'm beyond excited to go home (for the first time in 10 years) for the event in April.
CU was an amazing place to grow up and I'm grateful to still be connected to so many people that have been part of my story for over 40 years.

Excited to share that EK will be featured on “EatUp! NYC" this Saturday, February 14th, at 7:00 PM on WABC-7!
We’ve hosted many influential people at Evelyn’s Kitchen over the years, but this one was special for me.
I’ve followed Marcus Samuelsson's career for nearly three decades. I dined at Aquavit in the '90s, attended the opening of Red Rooster in 2010, and have watched with admiration as he’s built a body of work rooted in creativity, integrity, and an unwavering generosity of spirit.
His story has long been an inspiration to me.
I was honored to share a bit of my own journey with him as we broke bread (and Pudgies) at EK. Thank you, Marcus and the entire team, for your time, thoughtfulness, and energy.

Owning a business means I couldn't 'slam laptop shut' until about 4pm Christmas Eve. We had orders to get out, deliveries had to be made, clients with last minute requests were accommodated. I've spent 16 years prioritizing customer experience, and I don't think that will change anytime soon.
'Making Holiday Magic' for my daughter (when our family lives a literal world away) means I hosted 30 ppl for our 3rd Annual 'Boozy and Schmoozy' Party on Christmas Eve. And even though it's literal insanity to pull it off, I prioritize joy. Because i want her world filled with laughter, warmth, a house full of people and traditions she'll always remember.
Sharing my 24th Christmas with Mike (our 10th as her parents), reminds me that prioritizing grace, love, growth , family and friendship will always always always be the right choice.
From our family to yours, Cheers to the Holidays! I hope they were exactly what you needed them to be!
