Did you know there’s a bar in New York City where buying a beer gets you a FREE hot dog?
This is Rudy’s Bar & Grill in Hell’s Kitchen, and it’s been serving New Yorkers since 1933.
But there’s more to Rudy’s than FREE hot dogs.
Outside stands a six foot pig known as The Baron, one of the most recognizable bar mascots in New York City. In fact, The Baron was stolen twice before being permanently bolted down.
And according to a long running Hell’s Kitchen rumor, this building once operated as a speakeasy during Prohibition.
Today, Rudy’s is still one of New York City’s most iconic bars, famous for serving affordable beer while handing out thousands of FREE hot dogs every week.

What people say
Rudy's Bar & Grill is a legendary establishment that has been serving patrons since 1933. This pub and beer bar has a rich history, having been one of the first liquor licenses issued in New York City after prohibition ended. The present owner, Jack, has been a part of Rudy's since 1943 when he was just 16 years old. With its location in Hell's Kitchen, Rudy's has seen it all and Jack has plenty of stories to share.
One of the things that sets Rudy's apart is its authentic atmosphere. When you walk through the original wood door from the day it opened, you can feel the history and character of this old neighborhood saloon. The cheap beer and free hot dogs only add to the charm.
Despite its long history, Rudy's remains a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. It may be one of the most well-known bars in NYC, but it still manages to maintain its friendly vibe and welcoming atmosphere. If you're looking for a classic New York City experience, Rudy's Bar & Grill on 9th Avenue is definitely worth checking out.
