Did you know tomatoes are a rich source of the anti-inflammatory color pigment called lycopene? Lycopene is what makes food red. People who eat tomatoes tend to show a significant reduction in inflammation markers such as TNF-α and IL-6. Anti-inflammatory foods like tomatoes help the lining of our blood vessels to stay smooth for life.

You can find tomatoes in our Santorini Salad.

This week we were so honored to host Robin Hood for their Runners and Donors event at our 22nd Street location. Robin Hood is an amazing organization dedicated to fighting poverty in NYC.
.
Donating to charitable organizations has a lasting, positive impact on our lives because giving to others makes two areas in the brain stronger. When we voluntarily give to causes we find important, the regions in the brain that enable us to feel pleasure and also the regions in the brain that help us to make social connections are activated. They’re activated even stronger than when we receive from others! So it may be true that it is better to give than to receive!

Did you know our bodies are made up of 60% water? Getting enough water helps fill the brain with healthy blood flow. Also, it helps the body process toxins. Most people don’t know that we can get the water we need by eating enough healthful foods. Fruits and veggies, in particular, are hydrating foods. You can target 9 servings per day and rest assured that you’re not only getting nutrients but you’re also staying hydrated!
