Last night was Porsena's last night of service. We opened 10 years ago with the goal of being a neighborhood restaurant like what I grew up with in Rome, a place that wasn't trying to be new or cutting edge or radical, just a place that served up simple good food, that you might eat at 2-3 times a week and be friends with the people who worked there. We achieved that and I have been moved to see how many people felt at home there and thats due to the people who worked there, many of them for 10 years. We overcame a lot all of us together- hurricanes and alcoholic managers, slow summers that almost killed us a couple of times but we persevered and before COVID were really rocking on every level. Unfortunately our landlord didn't see a need to work with us or adjust our rent so it became obvious that we weren't going to be able to continue. To all my friends, customers and co workers who turned Porsena into my original vision big hugs and a lot of love. Thank you all for all of it!
