Shown in the background of this flyer is ‘Ajologol.’ Over 4 meters tall and made of 36,000 pieces of steel by Durango, MX-based .esculturas, Ajologol is the name of a polygonal sculpture of an ajolote, positioned prominently in Mexico City’s Zócalo during the World Cup. The critically endangered and charismatic ajolote, a species of salamander endemic to Mexico City and environs, has become a symbol and unofficial mascot for the World Cup in Mexico City.
