What people say

Delmonico's Restaurant is a true culinary institution that has been serving up delicious food since 1827. Located at the intersection of Beaver, William and South William Streets in New York City, this steakhouse was the first fine dining restaurant in the country. The Delmonico brothers started out with a small shop selling pastries, coffee, chocolate, bonbons, wines and liquors. Their success led them to purchase a triangular plot of land where they opened their restaurant.

One of the things that set Delmonico's apart from other restaurants was its private dining rooms located on the third floor. This allowed for discriminate entertaining and added an unheard-of luxury to the dining experience. The basement held an impressive wine cellar with 1,000 bottles of the world's finest wines.

Chef Alessandro Fellippini began to develop Delmonico's culinary identity during these early years with the house special, Delmonico Steak. Today, this prime cut of beef is still prepared to the original specifications and is truly the only authentic Delmonico Steak served in the United States.

In 1862, Charles Ranhofer was named Chef de Cuisine and invented many original dishes during his time at Delmonico's stoves. He is most noted for his innovative creations such as Eggs Benedict, Baked Alaska, Lobster Newburg and Chicken A la Keene.

Overall, Delmonico's Restaurant continues to impress diners with its rich history and delicious food. It is a must-visit destination for anyone looking for an authentic steakhouse experience in New York City.
