In Spain, “la hora del vermut” is the time before a meal when you sit down with vermut on the rocks, an olive, and a snack. We’re bringing the ritual to Astoria, for New York happy hour.

Cueva Nueva is part of a new wave of Spanish vermut — made in Tarragona from Garnacha Blanca and Airén, infused with 88 botanicals. Wormwood, orange peel, cinnamon, and a long list of Mediterranean herbs.

Available on draft. On the rocks, with soda or tonic and olives. $9 during happy hour. $9 All night on Tuesdays.

Just landed. Filipa Pato and William Wouters, Nossa Calcário Tinto 2023 — among the last bottles headed to New York. 100% Baga from century-old vines on Jurassic limestone in Bairrada, Portugal.

Baga is one of Europe’s great grapes that most people haven’t met yet.

KOHLI BOURBOURISTI. Sautéed Escargot with rosemary in white wine and butter.

I first had this dish in Crete and was blown away. Those little guys were harvested from a vineyard and went straight to the kitchen. I needed to replicate the experience in NYC and didn’t think it was possible until I heard of Peconic Escargot.

These little fellas were harvested here in NY on the North Fork and sent fresh to our kitchen! Voilà! These Snails will go fast.

HORTOPITA another staple dish served on Greek Easter Sunday. Similar to SPANAKOPITA but this savory pie is more common in the countryside of Greece and made with foraged wild greens. The one we’re baking at Mar’s is made with dandelions, Swiss chard and other leafy greens “foraged” from UNITED BROTHERS in Astoria. Join us this Sunday for a GREEK EASTER Feast.
