For almost 40 years, our kitchen at 316 did what it needed to do.
Tiny. Hot. Loud.
In the summer, temperatures climbed past 100°.
Tickets flying. Flames everywhere. No room to breathe.
And somehow, every single night, our boys made magic happen.
The fajitas.
The birthdays.
The first dates.
The comfort meals after funerals.
The dishes that made every occasion sacred.
All of it came out of that little war zone of a kitchen.
As we build this next chapter of Maz Mezcal, one thing matters deeply to us:
The people behind this restaurant deserve a space that matches their talent.
For years, our staff gave everything they had to this community.
Now it’s our turn to build something better for them.
We’re working as hard as we can to open our doors again soon.
Thank you for believing in us while we build this next chapter together. ❤️

To the mothers who built us, prayed for us, fed us, believed in us, and carried us through seasons like this one: feliz día de las madres. 🌹
Today, we celebrate and honor our own mama, and the mothers behind our team, and every mama who has shared a table, a meal, a memory, or a piece of her heart with us over the years at Maz.
The tables may be cleared for now, but the love, strength, and community that built this place are still here; carrying us into what comes next. Happy Mother’s Day! ❤️

We’re bringing everything with us:

Still holding these from our last day at 316.
We miss our community deeply. The dinners, the margaritas, the milestones, the familiar faces, the feeling of seeing good friends walk through the door.
We’ve been working quietly behind the scenes, and now we’re *so* close to sharing what’s next.
Thank you for your patience, your love, and for staying with us through this moment of transition.
Stay close. Big news coming very soon.

For 39 years, Maz Mezcal has been more than a restaurant- it’s been our family’s heartbeat.
Every milestone of my life has somehow circled back to this place. From my baptism to birthdays, graduations, my wedding, and countless ordinary days turned extraordinary around a table.
This building at 316 E. 86th has held laughter, tears, celebrations, and generations of memories.
Our next chapter is beginning- we’re moving (new address coming soon). Our last day of service at this beloved home will be Saturday, November 8th.
We hope you’ll join us as we celebrate the past, savor the present, and carry the spirit of Maz Mezcal into a new space; still here, still home, always family. 🌻💫

One of Maz Mezcal’s favorite Tequilas
Siete Leguas Anejo
Aged 24 months in American Oak barrels
100% agave with no additives.
Cooked vegetal agave shines with a lighter touch of barrel influence of oak and vanilla. Perfectly crafted and balanced.
