Long before she found herself haunting the streets of Manhattan, Lillie’s Banshee thrived in the misty hills and ancient castles of Ireland. Though her fellow spirits traditionally dressed rather unkempt, unflattering, and “old-lady-like”… Lillie’s Banshee has always had a more fabulous idea of how a spirit should present herself.
I mean… if you HAVE to be an omen of death, why can’t you look good doing it?!
These days, she can be found perched high in the bay window at Lillie’s in Union Square, where she spends her days draped in finery and admiring her own reflection. It’s sad, really - individuals pass beneath her window without so much as a glance, entirely unaware that a centuries-old spirit of Irish folklore is silently judging their outfits from above. Should you happen to catch her eye, be warned: a compliment may be the safest thing you can offer.
After all, a Banshee is said to herald death with her cry, and hell hath no fury like a woman scorned… or ignored.

Pinky Perky is known throughout the countryside as the village’s most affable drunkard. Impeccably mannered and effortlessly kind, he greets every passerby with a courteous bow, opens every door, and joyfully stumbles his way through conversations big & small.
Legend has it Pinky never means to overindulge. More often than not, he is simply performing what he believes to be acts of public service…such as sampling each & every bottle to ensure it hasn’t been poisoned. In the wee hours of the morning, Pinky can typically be found attempting to befriend barstools, serenading flower pots, or mistaking your wife for a dance partner.
To meet Pinky Perky is considered a stroke of good fortune. Local lore insists that if you shout his name three times while at Lillie’s in Union Square, a Baby Guinness will magically materialize. We can’t explain it... but we certainly won’t argue with tradition.

What people say
Lillie's Victorian Establishment is a true gem in the heart of New York City. The ornate wooden carvings and antiquities that adorn the pub and American restaurant were procured from an 1800s estate in Northern Ireland, giving it an authentic and ostentatious decor that transports you back in time. The ambiance is down-to-earth and mellow, making it the perfect place to unwind after a long day.
The menu at Lillie's is eclectic and traditional, offering something for everyone. And with over fifty domestic and imported beers on tap and bottled, as well as a fine selection of whiskeys and scotches, there's no shortage of libations to choose from. The hand-picked selection of wines adds to the authentic ambiance, with many coming from the Langtry estate in California founded by Lillie herself in 1888.
But what truly sets Lillie's apart is its antique, carved-wood bar and furnishings. These pieces were acquired from a Victorian mansion in Belfast, Ireland, and have been preserved with great care to maintain their original beauty. It's a rare sight to see such exquisite craftsmanship these days.
Overall, Lillie's Victorian Establishment is a must-visit for anyone looking for a unique dining experience in New York City. From the decor to the menu to the drinks, everything about this establishment exudes authenticity and charm.
