Many of you have been asking when we will be returning.
It is with a heavy heart that we share this news: a tradition that began with the Cerón family in the late 1970s has come to an end.
For decades, the Cerón family built more than a business—they created a space of culture, community, and connection that became part of Brooklyn’s story.
As many of you know, the fields at Red Hook Park were found to be contaminated with lead and have been undergoing decontamination for many years. Unfortunately, city projects often take much longer than expected, and during this time some of the fields remained closed. Soccer and baseball leagues stopped playing there, and many of our fellow vendors were forced to sell their food trucks and close their seasonal businesses.
Today, the only food truck that remained—El Olomega Pupusas—can no longer afford to carry the cost of the seasonal permit from the New York City Parks Department, which is approximately $14,000 per summer, on its own.
We are deeply grateful for all the years of support, community, and memories you’ve shared with us. Red Hook Park will always hold a special place in our hearts.

With El Olomega – I'm on a streak! I've been a top fan for 12 months in a row. 🎉
