A classic returns on draft! Now available the esteemed Grand Cru Flanders Red Ale 🇧🇪 🍺 “This is an aged Belgian red ale, which is ‘ripened quietly in oak barrels for two years’, according to the label. It has an extremely pungent aroma of rich grapey fruit, with acidic notes, very much like a slightly sour red wine or possibly a gueuze. In the mouth it is slightly sweet, extremely acidic and fruity, with grapes and even cherries discernible, and very lively. Despite the sweetness it is not at all cloying, even thin, with little or no trace of malt. Finish is sharp and fruity.” $1 Off For Happy Hour Monday-Friday until 7pm 😃

One month away & the Countdown to Orval Day 2025 begins! 🕰️ 🇧🇪 🍺 It’s no secret that Orval is one of our favorite Trappist ales 🍺 here at Fourth Avenue Pub. On Saturday March 22nd 2025 join us and great beer bars across the country as we salute this amazing beer for a day.
On March 22nd, devotees of Orval Trappist ale – and even some folks who hadn’t tried it yet – will convene upon our bar to celebrate one of the world’s most unique beers. Orval was the first brett beer to land on us shores, and has become the favorite beer for many star american brewers. (“brett” – brettanomyces – is a yeast variety that adds appetizing, sharp acidity and dryness.) Orval sells one beer, brewed to exquisite perfection within the walls of Notre Dame d’Orval monastery in Belgium 🇧🇪 . It’s delicious when it leaves the brewery, but also evolves in the bottle for five years or more.
Each year Orval’s US 🇺🇸 importer makes a donation to charity based on us sales of orval on orval day. This year, their charitable contribution will go to 🌲 🌲 🌲
We’ll be offering Happy Hour pricing on Orval all day on the 22nd of March! Share one with us! 🍻 “The logo of Orval is a fish holding a golden ring in its mouth. The legend goes that the widow of the Count of Chiny, Mathilde de Toscane (1046 - 1115) was sitting beside the local spring when she accidentally dropped her wedding ring into the waters. Praying that it would be recovered she was filled with awe when a trout appeared with it in its mouth. She was so grateful to have the ring returned that she donated the funds for the building of an abbey. Truly this place is a Val d’Or !”
Magical indeed!

Gearing up for Orval Day 2024! Join us Saturday March 23rd as we celebrate our favorite Trappist Ale! 🇧🇪 🍺

heads up to the Great White North! 🍁 🇨🇦 🍺 Now on draft: Yawning Shores Cottage Lager! 🍺 “We’re headed way up North for this homage to our touk-wearing Canadian pals- a “cottage lager” inspired by the maltier but always refreshing premium lagers of Canada! Premium, rich, but balanced malts blend with a dry and bright finish, a subtle spicy hop bite, and a refreshing finish that encourages a few more rounds with new friends. Pairs best with Tragically Hip records, cozy hats, and Swiss Chalet.” $1 Off For Happy Hour Monday-Friday until 7pm 😃
