It all started over 30 years ago, but it wasn't until an article in The New York Times, written by Ruth Reichl, that we knew we did it.
She wrote about how there was finally a sushi restaurant that was more relatable to the New York community.
And that is when we knew we changed the culture of sushi in New York with master sushi chef Toshi Ueki.

People don't always come to a sushi restaurant expecting the steak to be the thing they remember, but ours just might change your mind. Swipe in.

The day is finally here. We cannot wait to welcome the Palisades community back to Blue Ribbon Sushi at tomorrow with the new addition of Ueki, a hidden 14-seat omakase counter led by .
The Palisades has always felt like more than just a location to us. Blue Ribbon Sushi became part of the community, and after the fires, it was important to us to come back—not simply to reopen a restaurant, but to return to a place that means a great deal to us.
Rebuilding is about bringing back the places where people gather, reconnect, celebrate, and begin to feel a sense of normalcy again. Restaurants are part of the fabric of a community. They’re where people meet, mark milestones, and create memories. We’re honored to help bring some of that energy back to the Palisades.
We wanted to return in a way that honored what came before while looking toward the future. We’re incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received and excited to be part of the community’s next chapter.
Coming back is a small part of a much larger rebuilding effort, but it’s an important one to us.
We hope Blue Ribbon can once again be a place where people come together and feel connected to the community they love.

We can’t quite believe we’re this close. The day after tomorrow, we reopen our doors and welcome the Palisades community back to Blue Ribbon Sushi.
Behind the scenes, it’s been months of building, refining, and getting every detail right — and we wanted to bring you along for the final stretch.
We are also beyond excited to be opening our newest concept alongside Blue Ribbon Sushi: Ueki at Palisades Village. It is an intimate 14-seat omakase counter where Chef Lee San brings classical Japanese techniques together with his own personal heritage, course by course.
Reservations are now open for both Blue Ribbon Sushi and Ueki.

A sneak peek at the Ueki Palisades omakase menu...
Months before a new restaurant opens, the menu is already in motion—crafted, reworked, and refined long before it reaches your table. Part of that process is bringing the experience to life for our team first.
Last month, Sushi Chef Lee San and the Los Angeles team traveled east to Blue Ribbon Sushi & Sake in the West Village, where Chef Karma welcomed them to his counter. The two chefs worked side by side to bring the soon-to-be Ueki omakase to life—and our New York staff, along with Blue Ribbon co-founder Eric Bromberg, were among the first to taste what's coming to Palisades Village this August.
We can't wait for you to experience what's to come.

Thank you, Miami New Times, for recognizing the craft and dedication that's gone into the Blue Ribbon Sushi brand over the past 30 years. Bringing it to Miami has been everything we hoped for.
