Sometimes the magic of a coffee shop isn’t the coffee… it’s the people who walk through the door.
This sticker was a gift from a lovely family visiting Harlem from Sweden. They came in every morning for breakfast, always kind, always smiling.
I don’t know their names or their @, but their gesture stayed with us, in our board and in our heart

A few weeks ago suggested that I should challenge myself and do one full day of bartering! I thought about it a lot and then I went for it! Grazie Elizabeth for the suggestion! You started off a crazy adventure! ⚠️
The first barter of the day was breakfast and this was a crazy one because I didn’t plan it ... I just walked into a coffee place that I’m in love with and asked the owner if we could barter!!! ❓
Laura, co-owner with Alfredo of a Venezuelan coffee spot in Harlem 🇻🇪 ☕️, said YES as soon as I proposed it... not only did they give me their MONKEYCCINO which is their signature coffee but they gave me a whole coffee and tea tasting experience as well as a home made arepa that had an Italian twist to it (prosciutto!). Honestly it was to die for. See today’s stories for details. 🐒 ☕️
This place is very special because it raises awareness regarding endangered monkey species , hence the name THE MONKEY CUP. Alfredo has loved monkeys since he was a child 🐵 but really everything in this cafe has to do with the animal kingdom and wildlife. 🐒 🦍🦓🐆🦧🦣🐘🦛🦏🦒 ☕️ ❤️
So with my one unregular 72h leavened pizza Margherita I had a breakfast that I still dream about:

- Black tea with lemon and cinnamon
- Spanish coffee (coffee with condensed milk)
- Venezuelan espresso
- Arepa with prosciutto and cheese

If you want to get to the restaurant and coffee shop and Venezuelan restaurant located on Adam Clayton Powell Jr Boulevard, there are a couple of options.
Public Transport: You can take the subway to 125th Street Station or take any bus that goes towards Adam Clayton Powell Jr Boulevard. Walk towards the boulevard from either of these stops, and you will find the restaurant.
Driving/Parking: If you're driving, take FDR Drive N and exit at 125th St. Next, turn right onto W 125th St before turning left onto Adam Clayton Powell Jr Blvd. Street parking is available around this area but can be limited so look out for garages nearby where you can park your car.
