Bigger — and more popular — than we ever expected.
Little pencils. Little cards.
For very big thoughts.
It is sweet —
compliments, kind notes, even kids’ thoughts.
But hidden in between?
Deep takes. Sharp humor. A few quiet confessions.
And don’t assume people who take tea don’t have much to spill — they do.
Follow our Substack to read them weekly. Substack link in Bio…

📌♟️📌For the past five years, our tea rooms have been built around one beautiful tradition: 🫖Afternoon tea. It remains the heart of what we do and the experience we are most proud to share. The ritual, the tiers, the teapots, and the time spent together at the table will always be the foundation of our space. Over the years, something else has become very clear to us…
Many of you simply love being IN the tea room.
Guests often tell us how much they enjoy the calm atmosphere, the comfort of the space, and the welcoming energy created by Our Team ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. The conversations, the laughter, the familiar faces — the tea room has quietly become a place where people slow down, unplug, and spend meaningful time together.
Then I started thinking about how we could open our doors just a little more during the week and give our community another way to enjoy that same atmosphere.
A few of our staff members suggested something that felt perfectly in spirit with the tea room: Tea and Games.
Not as a replacement for afternoon tea — which remains our signature service — but as a relaxed mid-week gathering where guests can share a pot of tea, enjoy a few bites from an à la carte menu, and spend time together around a board game.
So we’ve introduced PARLOUR GAMES Thursday.
It’s the same tea room, Familiar staff, and the same welcoming vibe — just another way for our community to gather, laugh, and unplug over a Pot of our Tea.

Ever Wonder why Prospect Heights offers an outside service in the winter ?
In case you don’t know the history of BKHL.
We opened our tea room in Spring 2020 ( March ) , only to be immediately shut down for Covid. In October of 2020, restaurants were allowed to reopen with outside dinning. Tea roadside didn’t work for us so we built out our Garden Space and the “Secret garden”
was created. 2020 was a Snowy year, There were even days (before we were a covered garden ) that we’d have to shovel the yard out before setting tables for 10 am reservation. …..Now, 5 years later we’ve come a long way, Winter tea has become a tradition for so many of our regulars. So Every November we install the heaters, heat up the blankets, staff wears their winter best and we brew some amazing pots of HOT tea we serve those who reserve.
Regulars say this tradition is a moment to reflect on what it was like and how we all got through it by making the best and sticking together. Some say it’s also a great time to wear your Wools and Beanies, Vintage Furs and Gloves, and maybe see some wonderfully Ugly holiday sweaters.
So while winter tea isn’t for everyone, for those who have taken tea with us through 5 winters, long live the tradition! … Thank you for your support. And to Our winter staff.. ( serving 8
hours a day , Let’s give them a standing ovation ❤️😘)
Since Day one, Our motto has always been, “ If you Reserve it, we will
serve ..
