what an awesome day for rando!! RUSA
we had over forty riders yesterday for our lil intro-to-rando 125k populaire and the vast majority were first-time riders!! so happy to welcome so many folks into the fold and i hope y’all keep coming back and riding!!
thanks to Will Sherman Long Island Randonneurs for enabling this ride and giving me keys to the ride. thanks to xena for pre-riding with me last week to scope out the route and for helping with the start and final controlês.
now come out to ronkonkoma with us next month to ride the big duck and in november we’ll be doing a whole 200k from the shop. happy riding!!

honestly kinda blown away by how great the attendance at our randonneuring 101 was on monday. 🥹 real excited by how many new faces are coming into the fold.
for those who are bold enough, we got a medium-difficult 200k coming up this weekend and then a super chill 125k coming up the first weekend of september.

i’m on a perennial quest to get more butts on bikes and more bikes on adventures.
randonneuring definitely has a weird but not-actually-difficult barrier to entry so Will Sherman bicycle society and i are gonna do our level best to demystify the process and invite everyone into our small-but-growing tent in the cycling community.
and right around the corner from now Long Island Randonneurs is hosting an easy 125k up and over the tappan zee landing back in red hook for a lil end-of-summer hang.

even with an A for four years running i hate government bureaucracy and permitting (if we’re gonna had foodservice permitting it should be pass/fail and not letter grade, esp cuz doh can be so subjective [an understatement]).
also events. come hang out in august instead of going to europe and the hamptons like the rest of park slop and bococa. 😤😤

someday i’ll figure out a prettier way to present this, but i’m just tryna get in the habit of sharing numbers right now. here Q1 2026 as compared to Q1 2025. sales didn’t go down as wildly as i would have expected, but costs went up across the board so net income was down way more than gross. someday i’ll lock into r-star and all the numbers will be well. do any of you number nerds see anything interesting in these numbers or have thoughts on how to improve?
