CDMX in NYC🌺 — At Covacha

This spring, we’re joining the Metropolitan Opera for a citywide celebration of Mexican culture
and the life and legacy of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera!

Until May 31st, we’ll be offering a special menu to celebrate the premiere of El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego at the Met.

Mole Amarillo
A squash blossom filled with shrimp, leeks, and aromatic herbs, served over a deeply expressive yellow mole with hoja santa oil. Inspired by Frida’s culinary heritage and traditional Mexican cooking.

Casa Azul
Tequila reposado, corn liqueur, citrus, and agave. A bright, layered cocktail that balances warmth and freshness, inspired by the richness of Mexican ingredients.

El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego is on stage May 14–June 5.

Today feels very special.

Seeing our Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand plaque back on the wall is an emotional reminder of why we do this. Since 2022, this recognition has encouraged us to stay consistent, to stay disciplined, and to keep cooking with soul.

Bib Gourmand means honest food, real value, and heart. That is what Covacha stands for.

This belongs to our kitchen team, our dining room, and every guest who continues to believe in us. We’re also grateful to partners like Sysco who support the work behind the scenes that makes it all possible.

We move forward with gratitude and love. Always.

What people say

Covacha, located on Columbus Avenue in New York, is a must-visit restaurant for anyone looking to experience the authentic flavors of western Mexico. This Michelin Guide and Bib Gourmand awarded restaurant offers a diverse menu that showcases the quality and diversity of Mexican cuisine in new and exciting ways.

Their Jitomates & Tomatoes dish is a summer gift that you don't want to miss. It's a festy Mexican delicacy made with kumato, roasted, and house-dehydrated tomatoes, with pasilla emulsion, orange supreme, fresh epazote, and chives. And if you're looking for something to enjoy during brunch, their Huevos Divorciados dish is one of our favorites.

Covacha also has an impressive wine selection that pairs perfectly with their true Mexican flavors. Their Ossum Epiphanea blend is simple yet full of layers and perfect for summer.

For lunch or dinner, we highly recommend trying their Flautas - rolled crispy tacos filled with cheesy mashed potatoes and spiced chorizo; fresh ginger-black bean salsa, crema, cotija cheese, fresh radish, and cilantro.

At Covacha, they are committed to showcasing the best of Mexican cuisine in new ways. So come by tonight or any day from Monday to Sunday (with extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays) to experience the delicious flavors of Covacha for yourself!
