El Jordan takes its name from the sub-municipality where many of the founding members of Jordan Group call home. The communities of Planadas and Gaitania sit high in the mountains of southern Tolima, not far from Nevado del Ruiz, Colombia's tallest volcano.

We began partnering with El Jordan producers in 2006 with a focus on transparency, long-term commitment, and quality. Today, both founding and new members carry that work forward—producing El Jordan with remarkable consistency and care.

Our relationship with David Rubanzangabo began in 2012 when we purchased a small amount of Huye's first harvest. Fourteen years later, we still get excited every time it returns to our menu.

The Karumandi Coffee Factory sits at the base of Mt. Kenya, surrounded by towering eucalyptus trees and lush tea fields. Here, 3,000 local producers grow coffee that thrives in the volcanic soil nourished by the Thiba River.

We visited in January and met Nicasius, Karumandi's manager for 17 years, who showed us how they carefully select and process every cherry to ensure quality and consistency. We also met Albert and Argel of the Baragwi Farmer's Cooperative Society, a 73-year old organization which works with 20,000+ producers contributing to Karumandi and other coffee factories in the region.
