What people say

Italian restaurants are known for their delicious cuisine and warm hospitality. Il Toscano Restaurant in Douglaston, located on 235th Street, is a perfect example of an Italian restaurant that offers top-level cuisine and exceptional service.

Il Toscano was started in 1985 by Mauro Privilegi, who had a passion for preparing exceptional food using fresh and seasonal ingredients. His experience working on the Italian line cruise ships and at the Hotel Pierre in New York City gave him the knowledge and skills to open his own restaurant.

The restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere that complements its old-world Northern Italian style of cuisine. The menu features a variety of dishes that are prepared with great care and attention to detail. From appetizers like the classic bruschetta to entrees like the mouth-watering veal chop, every dish is made with fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection.

One of the highlights of Il Toscano is their family-style dining option, which allows guests to share multiple dishes with their tablemates. This creates a sense of community and adds to the overall dining experience.

Mauro's son, Alex Privilegi, is also a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. He brings new and innovative ideas to the restaurant while still maintaining its traditional style.

Overall, Il Toscano Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking for an authentic Italian dining experience. The food is exceptional, the service is outstanding, and the atmosphere is beautiful. It's no wonder why this restaurant has been around for over 35 years!
